Day 1: Bucharest – Monastir – Hammamet

Our journey begins at Otopeni Airport, where we board a flight to Monastir, Tunisia. Upon landing, we transfer by coach or minibus along the coastal road to Hammamet — a true corner of paradise. Originally a fishing village, Hammamet blossomed in the 1920s following a series of investments by a mysterious Romanian billionaire of the time.

We’ll visit the old Medina, built in the 16th century, followed by a stop at George Sebastian's villa. In the evening, relax on the beach or stroll through one of the city’s lush gardens. After sunset, the city’s bazaar becomes the heart of entertainment, filling the streets with exotic aromas and oriental rhythms.

Day 2: Carthage – Sidi Bou Said

We begin our day in Carthage, capital of the ancient Phoenician state founded in 814 BC. Highlights include the Phoenician Cemetery, Antonine Baths, Punic Ports, and the Carthage Museum.

At midday, we head to Sidi Bou Said, a charming hilltop coastal town overlooking the Mediterranean. Admire the white houses with blue rooftops reminiscent of Greece, stroll through its narrow cobbled streets, spend some time on the beach, and return to Hammamet in the evening.

Those not joining the excursion can enjoy a relaxing day in Hammamet, soaking in the sun and the city’s enchanting atmosphere — where by law, no building can be taller than a tree.

Day 3: Hammamet – El Jem – Matmata – Douz

We head to El Jem to discover Tunisia’s most impressive ancient archaeological site — the Roman Colosseum of El Jem, an immense amphitheater that once held 35,000 people, far exceeding the town's population at the time.

Next, we continue to Matmata, a town showcasing humankind’s determination to adapt to nature — here, homes and communal spaces are dug into the earth, offering natural insulation against desert heat and cold nights. One of these troglodyte houses was used in the Star Wars film series as Luke Skywalker’s home.

In the evening, we arrive in Douz, known as the "Gateway to the Sahara." We explore the Medina, and, if time permits, visit the local museum and old souq (market), followed by a break among the region’s immense palm groves, the largest in Tunisia.
